Wednesday, 13 Dec 2023 – Today was another “at sea,” and was overcast and sprinkling. Jesse had set an alarm for 7:30 AM and went to the Beauty Salon/Spa for his second pedicure appointment at 8:00 PM. Stephanie was his pedicurist again. There was much less crust left to remove this time, and his toenails hadn’t grown much since his first pedicure, so there wasn’t a lot for Stephanie to work on. He skipped the “fire & ice” portion this time. Sally was still asleep when Jesse returned to the cabin.
Sally had slept well, but she had a little
stiffness from yesterday’s massage. We
went to our usual breakfast at the Terrace Café; then Sally looked on line for
authors of good time travel books. We
returned the four books to the library that she had checked out previously, and
checked out two more books.
At 3:45, we went to a dance class. We were 15 minutes late, so we decided to
watch and not participate. The
instructors were teaching the Argentine Tango.
We had learned the more traditional tango on a previous cruise, years
ago, and Jesse was concerned that learning the Argentine Tango might confuse
him. The instructors were very good,
obviously professional dancers.
We had received an invitation to the Oceania
Club Cocktail Party at 5:45, so we went to the Horizons to enjoy a few free
drinks. We sat with Keith & Carol
again. During the ceremony, some of the
guests were presented with awards, such as “most Oceania Cruise Line travel
days,” etc. Most of the recipients were very elderly, even
by our standards. Carol remarked that
some of them should have been receiving “Burial at Sea,” awards! Some of the Oceania staff received their 5,
10, or 15-year service pins. We danced
quite a bit after the awards ceremony.
Although we had decided to limit ourselves to only two rum punches, each
this time, we were both still a little tipsy afterwards. During dinner at the Terrace Café, Jesse
picked up Sally’s meal for her again, since he was a little steadier on his
feet!
