Sunday, 24 Dec 2023 – Today was another at-sea day. We went to our usual breakfast at the Terrace Café. It was very crowded and we were having a problem finding a seat. One of the waitresses arranged for us to sit at a table for six with another couple. Their names were Rod & Linda. He had a gray ponytail; she was s tall blond. Rod was a retired mechanical engineer. He had owned a grinding shop. They had been married since 2011, the second marriage for both of them. After breakfast, we went to the library, where Sally checked out two more books. She first started reading Allies, by Alan Graty, about the D-day landing. The sea was very rough and the staff had covered the pool with a net, which they later removed. However, it was still much too cold for us to swim.
Before dinner, we went
dancing to the 4 Corners in the Horizons; then we went down to the atrium for a
photo with the Christmas decorations. The
Terrace Café was a little empty, assuming that most passengers were celebrating
Christmas Eve at in the Grand Dining Room or one of the specialty
restaurants. We had Risling wine with
dinner again. After returning to our
cabin, we watched It’s a Wonderful Life on TV, which we finished well
after midnight.
