Cruising the Chilean Fjords (2 Days)

Thursday, 28 Dec 2023 – Today was another at sea day.  We went to breakfast in the Terrace Café as usual; then relaxed in our cabin for the remainder of the morning and afternoon.

Before dinner, we went dancing to the 4 Corners Band in the Horizons.  Lobster was back on the menu in the Terrace Café, which pleased Sally.  We enjoyed Riesling wine with dinner again.

Friday, 29 Dec 2023 – Today was the second at sea day in a row.  It was still much too cold to swim.  We went to our usual breakfast in the Terrace Café.  After napping, Sally sorted pills.

We had received another two Oceania Spa Credits for this second cruise segment, worth $150.00 each, as benefits of being Oceania Gold Club members.  They are allowing Sally to use both vouchers, so she would be getting two 50-minute Swedish massages!  Jesse scheduled the first one for 1:30 PM, today.   Jesse also went down to Deck 5 and made us reservations for the Polo Grill at 7:30 PM.  The reservationist was surprised that this would be our first time eating at one of the specialty restaurants on this cruise!

This time, Sally’s masseuse was Mary.  She is one of seven who perform this service.  Both Mary and the previous masseuse were very good, but Sally thought Mary was more personable.  Mary is 34 with no children yet, but she is planning to have some.  Jesse went next door to the fitness center and rode an exercise bicycle while he waited for her.

The 4 Corners Band performed in the Horizons earlier tonight, stopping at 6:30 PM.  Since our dinner reservations weren’t until 7:30 PM, we remained in the Horizons and danced to recorded music.  An Asian couple from Vancouver was dancing there also.  One other couple danced to a couple of songs.

For dinner, Sally ordered baked onion soup, whole Maine lobster, creamed spinach, and a chocolate fudge brownie with ice cream for dessert.  Jesse ordered escargot, lobster bisque, beefsteak tomato salad, surf & turf (lobster & filet mignon), and York cheesecake for dessert.  We both ordered Riesling wine.  We enjoyed the dinner, but we were both overstuffed; not sure if we will be eating at anymore specialty restaurants on this cruise!  We were back in our cabin by 9:30 PM; 45 minutes later than usual.
